Week 8
Your Baby's Development at 8 Weeks
Your unborn child, or offspring, is now referred to as a fetus when you are eight weeks pregnant. Although the legs are becoming longer, it takes some extra time for the various components, such as the knees, ankles, thighs, and toes, to properly develop. The placenta is growing and forming the structures necessary to bind the fetus to the womb wall while it remains inside the amniotic sac. The yolk sac continues to provide the fetus with nutrition at this point.
You are currently approximately 7 or 8 weeks pregnant, and your womb resembles a lemon. Your breasts may feel bigger and painful. You may also feel exhausted. You may also require more frequent urination. It's likely that you haven't had your second period, but minor vaginal bleeding is a possibility throughout pregnancy. Any bleeding should always be reported to your GP or midwife, especially if it persists and is accompanied by stomach pain.
